Building hope, piece by piece

A family of 11 members without a fixed income live together in one ramshackle house. The father earns a basic living with piece jobs. At present he is doing recycling, with the help of his son. The mother of the family takes in laundry. They receive a child grant of only R800 per month, in total. The two youngest children receive a cooked balanced meal for five days per week at the Engo Community Centre. Then they have supervised playtime with their friends in a child-friendly environment. Their mother collects receives clothing and maize meal from Engo.By helping with basic necessities, Engo is building hope… piece by piece. And this puts a huge smile on their faces!
